As Americans continue to grapple with inflation, the threat of recession, and general economic uncertainty, Masi Habibi is helping to teach others how to achieve financial independence by building what she calls a “recession-proof career.” Day trading might seem like a difficult field, and it certainly takes hard work, but Habibi’s company, MasiTrades, focuses on helping its clients overcome those hurdles, using her own knowledge and experience as a guide.
She knows what it is like to start out small. Habibi and her parents emigrated to the United States from Afghanistan was she was three, and unlike many of her peers in the options world, she didn’t grow up surrounded by the world of finance. In fact, trading as a career never even occurred to her; it started out more as a hobby, something she could do to challenge herself “to learn a new skill,” in the hopes that she might be able to turn a small profit. She soon discovered that what started out more as a hobby became a side hustle, and could easily become her main focus. In 2018 she cut the cord, quit her job, and began trading full-time.
At the time, it was a rough for a woman trying to make it as a day trader. As Habibi recalls, “It was so male dominated that I never had a guide or a place where I could go and learn.” Without a mentor, she made several mistakes and found herself floundering at first. Amid her own discouragement, however, she realised that “learning from your failures and using them as stepping stones to your goals is when everything will change” for the better. The lessons she learned from her own mistakes, coupled with her belief that “perseverance is everything,” gave her the confidence she needed to hone her skills and achieve success.
MasiTrades is Habibi’s answer to giving the others the help she wished she could have had when she began her own journey. MasiTrades offers a variety of courses for people just starting out, and her YouTube and Discord pages have become go-to resources for anyone interested in pursuing the otherwise mysterious world of day trading. Having achieved her own success, Habibi’s noble goal is to help others do the same, allowing them to learn from her own early mistakes. “My passion has really been teaching and guiding clients along their journeys to financial self-sufficiency,” a topic she now understands from both sides of the fence.
