Meet The Music Industry’s “Pilot” Dj Fly Guy

Today we’d like to introduce you to Dj Fly Guy.

It’s an honor to speak with you today. Why don’t you give us some details about you and your story. How did you get to where you are today?

It’s an honor to be here!
My music journey started at about 8 years old, I played several instruments in the school band from trumpet/french horn, flute, all percussion instruments and would easily get 1st chair most of the time. My Dj journey started at my local skating rink, Skate Towne College Park, Ga.

Lied about my age to get the job, at the time I was like 12 and told them I was 15. Every day I worked when the skating rink was closed, I was drawn to the dj booth to play around with the duel CD players. The manager, who I later discovered was a family member, would listen from the office I’d assume because one day the teen club dj didn’t show, when I got to work I was told, “you’re working the club tonight” and at 12 I officially became a “dj”! This continued until I was 16 when I started throwing teen parties during our high school holiday at 2100+ capacity where I would reach our and have artist come through like Future, 2 Chainz, Rich Kidz, Young Thug, Rocko and so many I know I’m forgetting off top. Being “the” parties to be at, some came for free. My online presence grew to an overseas market in Japan, where I took my first headlining dj tour to at 18 years old. Learned a lot on my month tour came back and Deejayed for every artist from those parties at some point.

I’m sure your success has not come easily. What challenges have you had to overcome along the way?

Success is always a challenge, I’ve had to over come constantly being told, “you’re too young to Dj the club” and found a way to around it. My mom, who is my biggest support system, didn’t believe in what I was doing but believed in me which caused some contradicting disagreements that got me kicked out the house right after high school. That fueled me to go hustle on my own and keep me going to push artist like Roscoe Dash, BanditGang Marco, Yung Tone, Dorrough Music, 2 Chainz (Tity Boy at the time).

Breaking these artist records before they were household names is what gave me the boost I needed to get the word circulating that I was an amazing show dj. No matter what I was going through personally I was working. Being technically homeless in the process I was determine to get succeed. Locked in with Dj Hershey my mentor and uncle and showed up at Hot 107.9 everyday, even if I said nothing the whole time I was there I was watching, learning the game from another angle I hadn’t thought about, met the same artist I worked with in the clubs which gave me a little more muscle. I showed up every single day to the point I became apart of the primetime show, the Durrtyboyz on Hot 107.9.

Let’s talk about the work you do. What do you specialize in and why should someone work with you over the competition?

I’m one of the best young tour Djs out of Atlanta. My work has contributed to breaking artists like Future, Lolife Blacc, Young Thug, Roscoe Dash, OG Maco, QUE & more. Working with Dj Fly Guy gets you 1st class access to the music business, from shaking the right hands, getting you on stage with the right crowd and standing on the job of a Dj breaking artist on to the scene to Take Flight with their careers. I specialize in breaking records to simplify it, as well as Dj all events of any and every genre there is. I can break artist into any market due to my passion for this and the desire for more knowledge in the music industry because theirs multiple ways to do everything in this field of work.

What’s your best piece of advice for readers who desire to find success in their life?

My best advice for those who desire success is to not focus on success. Learn from the journey and take as many small steps as needed to achieve your goals to success. Notice I said goals, plural, to success, meaning don’t let the ultimate goal be the only focus. Find tasks that can set up small victories on the way to success, in doing so you’re learning new and fun ways to accomplish the main objective while not over working yourself. This helps build so much such as character, patience, it even test your will to see how much you really want the success you’re looking to achieve. So have fun on the journey, don’t look at the few losses on the way because it’s not that, they’re lessons to find the perfect path for your success.

Speaking of success, what does the word mean to you?

You know, to answer this I have to put you in “The Pilot” seat. I wake up everyday at 2:00 am – 7:00am to start my day, search new music for the day of all genres, work on my craft rather I record a mix with audio or on video, reach out to artist and push a few records to other Djs. I do this everyday so it’s muscle memory really. That’s not including the weeks/months I spend on your doing the same thing while catering to one artist physically. So to me success means having a goal or goals and achieving them in many ways even you don’t expect as you set your mind to it. Everyone knows they want something out of life, not all know what it is. If you at least know what you want to succeed at, than you’re already on the road to success.

What’s next for you?

I have a few things in the works. I’m on my last month of a 2 year Dj residency in Arizona ending Halloween & preparing for tour. An artist I’ve been pushing for a few years just signed a deal with Moneybagg Yo, Tripstar. One of my artist Lolife Blacc is surpassing almost 3 million plays independently and getting ready to take the tour. I also have a new single featuring my late brother, Yung Mazi, Derek De’Shon, and Poplord called “Island” dropping this fall.
