I created Astren Communications in partnership with www.decsecure.com to be the number 1 choice for those that want true cyber security. Looking back, what success advice would you give to your younger self?
Oh to look back, now that would have been nice. I would say stay focused and stick with what you are doing. In other word’s don’t jump around from job to job looking for the next best thing. The best piece of advice would be not to give up and don’t take advice from your poor family and friends. Most people don’t want you to succeed in fear of them looking bad that they did not do it. I remember hearing a saying about crabs in a bucket. When you put a bunch in a bucket one will try to get out but the others will pull them back in versus working together to get out. Your friends are typically those crabs holding you back. As for timing, there is never a perfect time other than now. You just need to do it knowing you will fail but understand that failing is just another way of learning what did not work. If you are waiting for the stars to align then you will never start.
Do you have any final thoughts you would like to share with our audience?
Your typical phone is not designed with privacy or security as a top priority. Private conversations aren’t private if a smartphone is present. Smartphones are packed with sensors that can be compromised to listen, watch, and track you and expose everything about your personal and professional life. Mobile phones and tablets today account for over 90% of all communications globally, as they are used to connect (text, voice or video), shop, work, bank, research, track our health and complete hundreds of other tasks at any time, from any location. Your decisions create vulnerabilities and do not protect you from unseen dangers. Ultimately these situations leave you highly vulnerable. Most networks can be compromised, which creates an even higher level of vulnerability for your mobile device and its data transmission. As you can see in the past few months that major companies are getting cyber hacked. This is a real threat and without boring you with statistic let me share one, there were 3932 publicly reported breach events in 2020, that’s just the ones they told us about with record-breaking 37 billion compromised records. Typically, my customers are executives, senior-level professionals, and celebrities looking for privacy but the general consumer market is starting to realize that everyone is at risk and need to do more to protect their digital footprint.
