Today we’d like to introduce you to Robert Lawson Jr.
It’s an honor to highlight your success on our platform. Do you mind telling us about the things you’ve been able to accomplish?
My story started in Compton California, where I was born and raised. Growing up adversity was normal but when I reflect on life, it was the challenges that helped to cultivate the mindset I have today. I have had multiple jobs, side hustles, dropped out of 3 colleges and even pursued women as a hobby. It was not until I developed a relationship with Jesus Christ, that I was able to get a clearer vision and a sense of purpose for my life. I got married, had children, went back to school, received my associates degree, and even made the deans list. I attended night school and, I had a customer service job making 12 dollars an hour during the day. I leverage my experience and altered my resume to land a sales job making $50k+ a year. After a year of growth, I was able to secure a junior account position in the financial sector. Over the next few years, I have had titles from team lead to chief sales officer; and that journey allowed me to make multiple six figures a year. From running a team of 50+ sales reps, creating systems, and wearing multiple hats; I helped 2 companies exceed 7 figures a month. After spending 9+ years in corporate, I officially hung up my employee title. Now I run a successful finance company and have dedicated time to take all my life lessons and help others through mindset and business coaching.
Tell us about some of the memories you’ve made on your journey!
The Winning Mindset comes from the logic I use in any situation I encounter; either I win in a situation or I learn, and when I learn I win. Working in corporate allowed me to learn how to build grow and scale a success company. What I did not learn is how to properly budget and manage cash flow. I built an ecommerce store from 0 – $300k+ in 8 months, but shortly filed a business bankruptcy due to poor financial decisions. If I had the proper financial education on how to manage cash flow, I could have avoided that detour. I have encountered depression; I felt like my work was undervalued, and at times felt I was not good enough for certain jobs or paychecks. I married young, had kids immediately which motivated me to change my “mindset”, then I made the most money in my life. I have taken the life’s lessons and use them as stepping stones to take my life to the next level.
Do you have any final thoughts you would like to share with our audience?
I would challenge anyone reading this to define what success looks like for them, create a plan and go after it. Currently there is a lot of influence in our lives from various life channels sharing their definition of what success looks like. I would say look internally and ask yourself a question, what in this life is worth pursuing 100%? When you come up with a snippet of a vision write it down, create a plan and get to work. The cool part is you may not have 100% of the vision to map out and life may just offer you step one at a time. Success, may look like finding a girlfriend, going on a trip, or getting a job. Have a vision of what success looks like for you and do not let anyone discount your dreams no matter how big or small. Also, you will learn along this journey, you will learn from mistakes, or if your lucky mentors. The Winning Mindset comes from the logic I use in any situation I encounter; either I win in a situation or I learn, and when I learn I win. Do not be afraid to pivot and remember to keep winning.
