It’s an honor to speak with you today. Why don’t you give us some details about you and your story? How did you get to where you are today?
I am an author, women’s empowerment expert and Registered Nurse of 23 years. Detroit’s where I was born and bred. This city molded me, shaped me, and infused my soul with its raw energy and grit.
Yet, my upbringing left me with an emotional deficit that took a toll on my self-esteem and self-understanding. It was a challenging path, grappling with inner turmoil and seeking to find my true self amidst the shadows of doubt and uncertainty. As a result, any and all life challenges that I faced were worsened due to my lack of emotional awareness.
During my life’s journey, I have experienced hardships and traumas that could have been prevented with the knowledge of adequate life skills. I am grateful that during my trials and experiences, I was able to position myself to gain the inner knowledge that I so desperately needed to achieve a positive outlook and a productive life.
Discovering a method to achieve a positive self-identity and maintain it has been my greatest discovery, a discovery that I desire to share with the women of the world. Creating a sisterhood of emotional wellness is my life purpose.
I’m sure your success has not come easily. What challenges have you had to overcome along the way?
The biggest challenge was overcoming the self-doubt that sometimes as people, we tend to experience when we make strides and steps to improve and elevate our lives. When I decided to extend my career as a nurse to pursue emotional health for women, I had to allow myself to embrace the victories in my life and recall the obstacles that I had overcome to reassure myself that my decision to exclusively serve women was a position I was qualified to handle.
The possibilities were endless. I had to remember that my past trauma didn’t dictate my future; rather it was my past hardships that positioned me to perfectly relate to other women and be even more impactful in transforming into a place of healing. Vulnerability and perseverance are the most valuable attributes we possess. When we are determined to succeed with authenticity to make our lives better as well as others, there is no way we can fail.
Let’s talk about the work you do. What do you specialize in and why should someone work with you over the competition?
I am the founder of Faith In Girls, Inc. a nonprofit organization aimed to empower women to achieve emotional and mental wellness. The organization operates with the philosophy that all life success begins with a woman’s understanding of her inner self and genuine identity. It is our mission to educate women with the ability to cultivate and elevate from the inside out, focusing on the most important factor of any equation SELF.
We provide strategies for life success, and financial literacy, and are offering a Home Buying Program specific to the women of Detroit.
Our mission is to teach women how to cultivate the innate power we possess and prioritize our inner selves over any outside factor. Most programs that focus on success are dealing with external factors. We believe that any and all sustainable success begins within and that if the inner self is prioritized everything else will be achieved with genuine fulfillment.
What’s your best piece of advice for readers who desire to find success?
Stay true to your purpose and mission. Success is only achieved if the path to your goal is done with the genuine intent of honoring yourself first. True success is feeling fulfilled with purpose. When we focus on things outside of our core values, we deviate to a less impactful position making success almost impossible to achieve. It ultimately comes down to honoring your gifts, ideas, talents, and passion that take us from level to level.
Speaking of success, what does the word mean to you?
Success for me means living my life’s purpose. Empowering women to be the best version of themselves by sharing the important tools for attaining and maintaining self-awareness and emotional clarity. My journey of overcoming trauma and developing a strategy to become self-empowered means everything to me and it is my greatest
