CHRIS HARRIS: FROM CLOSE-QUARTERS COMBAT EXPERT TO MOTIVATIONAL SPEAKER

Today we’d like to introduce you to Chris Harris.

It’s an honor to highlight your success on our platform. Do you mind telling us about the things you’ve been able to accomplish?

I offer motivational and sales performance seminars through my company, Motivational Pros. Additionally, I provide executive consulting for the additive manufacturing industry (3D printing), which is based on my latest book, Phase Selling for Additive Manufacturing. I am a close-quarters combat expert with 25 years of experience as an independent contractor training federal agencies, military, and special forces. The system of combatives I taught to the United States and its global allies is called Roku Jutsu, which I developed in 1993.

People who know me best would describe me as a serial entrepreneur. Over the past three decades, I have started several successful businesses and have written six books (and counting). Lastly, I have been awarded multiple patents for my inventions relating to personal safety and am a United States military veteran.

Tell us about some of the memories you’ve made on your journey!

A recent memory that I’d like to share relates to my previous career teaching hand-to-hand combat. I am a 6th Degree Black Belt in Roku Jutsu, which is a system I created in 1993 and taught professionally, until retiring my belt in 2018. Earlier this month, I received exciting news from the United States Martial Arts Federation (USMAF), which was founded in 1967. The USMAF notified me of their decision to acknowledge Roku Jutsu as an officially recognized system, in compliance with the rules and regulations of their federation and governing body.

To help bring this significant news into perspective, here’s a flashback: In 1978 I received my first karate lesson at the age of 10 while living in Dayton, Ohio. From that day forward I fully immersed myself into the martial arts and trained consistently for the next 40-years. As a lifelong practitioner, having Roku Jutsu formally recognized by a highly respected organization is one of the greatest memories of my professional career. Having my life’s work validated by a board of my peers is a memory that will last me a lifetime!

Do you have any final thoughts you would like to share with our audience?

If you want to achieve your goals and advance your life, I cannot overemphasize the importance of surrounding yourself with the right people. I have acquaintances, and I have friends, and I have come to know the difference. For me to consider someone a true friend, someone I want to navigate life with, I prefer that we align in both interests and values, and that’s not always an easy combination to find.

I choose to surround myself with people who set high standards for themselves and who prioritize those standards, those with a code, if you will. And, when they’re hit with the storms of life or when mistakes are made, they stand firm at the helm like any good captain, adjusting their sails and making course corrections wherever necessary. With friends, I don’t seek perfection, I simply look for people who know their values and do their best to stay the course. Lastly, I ask those who have earned my absolute trust to help hold me accountable and to always speak the truth into my life. Building these types of relationships requires a great deal of work and takes time, but it is well worth the effort and will make all the difference in the end!

Finally, how can people connect with you and learn more about what you do?
