Expert Spotlight Interview with C. Eric Collier

Today we’d like to introduce you to an expert.

1. What is your name, title, and the name of your company or organization?

C. Eric Collier “The Mayor of Motivation”

Keynote Speaker, Television and Podcast Show Host, Author, & Veteran

C E Collier Ventures

2. What do you do, and who do you help?

I am a globally recognized keynote speaker and momentum mindset strategist who helps organizations turn adversity into fuel for performance. I combine 35+ years of military, government, and leadership experience with a powerful personal story of refusing to become “just another statistic.” As the go‑to speaker when you need people to stop stalling, own their story, and start moving, I provide practical tools they can apply the same day. Through high-energy keynotes, workshops, and The Momentum Shift Podcast & Radio Show, I create lasting mindset shifts that drive real-world momentum for individuals, teams, and organizations.

3. What inspired you to pursue this work?

What inspired me to start my own business was first, wanting to redirect or change the cycle/path I was leading my family on. I wanted more for us.  Next was my desire to see people live in the happiness and success they envisioned. I just want to see people win.

4. Tell us a little about your professional background and journey.

My professional journey is a testament to what happens when you refuse to settle for the story life tried to hand you.

I am a globally recognized keynote speaker, leadership development facilitator, and momentum mindset strategist but none of that came easy, and none of it came overnight.

I’ve spent more than 35 years serving in roles that shaped my voice, my mission, and my commitment to helping people rise. My career spans the U.S. Army, the U.S. Navy, and decades of government service, where I supported government civilians, military personnel, and contractor supervisors and teams through leadership development and professional growth. Those years taught me how people think, how teams function, and how leaders rise not in theory, but in real‑world environments where pressure is high and excuses don’t survive.

As a leadership development facilitator, I’ve trained and coached professionals at every level, helping them build confidence, clarity, and the courage to lead with purpose. I learned early that leadership isn’t about rank or title it’s about mindset, resilience, and the ability to create momentum even in the face of adversity.

But the truth is, the biggest obstacles in my journey were never external. They were the internal battles.

Early in my career, I hesitated to step into my calling. I even turned down the opportunity to be mentored by Les Brown not because I didn’t want it, but because I didn’t believe I was ready. That moment became a defining lesson in the cost of hesitation and the power of self‑belief. It planted the seed for what would eventually become The Momentum Shift.

Then came the 352‑day layoff a season that pushed my family into crisis and forced me to rebuild everything from the ground up. Instead of breaking me, it reshaped me. It clarified my purpose. It fueled my mission to help others rise through adversity, not just survive it.

I am here because I chose to rise. And now, I help others do the same.

5. What problem are you most passionate about solving?

My target audience is made up of high‑achievers and purpose‑driven individuals who are looking for clarity, confidence, and momentum in their next chapter. I speak to adults roughly 25–55, across the U.S. and globally, who are navigating transition, leadership, or personal growth.  That includes career‑transitioners, emerging and established leaders, professionals who feel stuck, and people who want practical mindset tools to move forward.

6. What makes your approach or framework unique?

What sets me apart is that I don’t just speak about transformation I walk people into it.   My work lives at the intersection of adversity and possibility, where real stories collide with real strategies and something powerful happens, people begin to move. Not someday, not eventually but right now.  I bring a perspective shaped by lived experience, forged through setbacks, service, and the relentless belief that momentum is available to anyone willing to claim it. As “The Mayor of Motivation,” I don’t just deliver inspiration; I deliver ignition.

7. What has been the biggest challenge you’ve faced, and how did you overcome it?

The biggest obstacles in my career weren’t external, they were the internal battles. Early on, I hesitated to step into my calling, even when faced with opportunities I truly wanted such as being mentored by Les Brown. That hesitation cost me a major opportunity to change my life and forced me to confront the stories I was telling myself. That moment became the foundation of The Momentum Shift.  I also faced a 352‑day layoff that pushed my family into crisis. Instead of breaking me, it reshaped my purpose and fueled my commitment to helping others rise through adversity.  My journey stems from childhood struggle to chasing a baseball dream to serving in the Army and Navy to rebuilding my career multiple times and all of it has taught me that momentum is created, not given.

8. What accomplishment are you most proud of?

Some career highlights don’t just mark time they mark transformation.  One of the most defining moments of my journey was being recognized as “The Mayor of Motivation,” a title born not from branding, but from the way I connect making people feel seen, energized, and moved after our conversation or time together. It became a symbol of the work I was called to do.  Another cinematic moment came when I trained under Les Brown, a giant in the industry, and was later invited to speak during his summit. Presenting on that platform, sharing the message that helped me rise up, rebuild, and redefine what’s possible, felt like a full‑circle moment of purpose meeting preparation.

9. Can you share a success story or transformation from a client, customer, or community you serve?

An unforgettable moment that really moved me came from across the world. I once received a message from a young man in the Middle East who thanked me for sharing my story. He told me it spoke directly to what he was going through and inspired him to take action. I had to pause and reflect — because there was a time when I didn’t believe I could inspire anyone in my own community, let alone someone on another continent. Now, every day I wake up committed to helping people rise up, rebuild, and redefine what’s possible.

10. What are some common misconceptions people have about your industry or area of expertise?

One thing I hope this article helps clear up is the truth about the motivational speaking industry because so many people only see the spotlight, not the sacrifice.

They think speakers show up, hype a crowd, and disappear. But real speakers the ones committed to impact don’t trade in hype. We trade in hope, strategy, and lived experience. We don’t just inspire people; we help them build the courage and clarity to create their own momentum shift.

Another misconception is that motivation fades, so the work must be temporary. But momentum isn’t about a moment. It’s about mindset. When someone learns how to rise up, rebuild, and redefine what’s possible, that shift stays with them long after the applause fades.

People also assume speakers have perfect lives. The truth is, many of us stepped into this work because we’ve lived through the adversity, we now help others overcome. My journey from rebuilding my life to becoming a 3x Amazon International Best‑Selling Collaborator to hosting a global television show was shaped in the dark long before it ever reached the stage.

This industry isn’t about being impressive. It’s about being impactful. And when you understand that, you understand the heart of this work.

These trends aren’t just shaping the future of motivational speaking they’re shaping the future of how people rise

11. What projects, events, books, programs, or initiatives are you currently working on?

Right now, I’m working on two projects that mean the world to me not just because of what they are, but because of what they represent.

Both are living proof that when you make the decision to rise up and rebuild, life will meet you with opportunities you once thought were impossible.

The first is my upcoming book, “The Momentum Decision: The Moment You Stop Settling and Start Soaring.”

If you’ve ever heard me say, “What you tell yourself, you sell yourself,” this book is the embodiment of that truth. Its completion, along with being a 3x Amazon International Best‑Selling Collaborator, is a testament to what happens when you finally say yes to your greatness and embrace the idea that you were put on this earth for a purpose. This book is more than pages and chapters; it’s a declaration that your next level begins the moment you stop settling.

The second project is “The Momentum Shift Television Show with Eric Collier.”

This show is a dream realized and a space created to empower people to rise up, rebuild, and redefine what’s possible in their lives. Working alongside Producer Jermoni K. Dowd and my wife, Crystal A. Collier, we’ve built an environment where high‑achievers come to share the raw, real stories of how they shifted from feeling stuck to stepping boldly into the happiness and success they once only envisioned. Every episode is a reminder that momentum is contagious, and when one person shifts, others follow.

Both projects are anchored in gratitude, gratitude for the journey, for the people who believed in me, and for the opportunity to help others create their own momentum shift.

12. What is your vision for the future?

In a few years, I see the Momentum Shift brand operating as a global empowerment movement helping people and organizations create the kind of momentum shifts that transform how they lead, live, and show up in the world.  My dream is to expand the work through international stages, strategic partnerships, youth empowerment programs, and digital platforms that make the Momentum Shift mindset accessible worldwide.  Ultimately, I see myself continuing to ignite breakthroughs, elevate voices, and help people rise up, rebuild, and redefine what’s possible…at a global scale.

14. If you could leave readers with one key message, what would it be?

The key message I’d like readers to walk away with is that transformation is possible for anyone and it starts the moment you decide to create your own momentum shift.   My life, my work, and my mission all point to one truth: you are never as stuck as you think you are. Whether I’m speaking on a stage, coaching a leader, mentoring a young person, or writing my book, the theme is the same and that is adversity is not the end of your story; it’s the beginning of your breakthrough.  I want readers to feel the power of choosing to rise up, rebuild, and redefine what’s possible. I want them to see that momentum isn’t magic; it’s a mindset. And I want them to walk away believing that the same shift that changed my life can change theirs, their family’s, and even their community’s.  If this article does anything, let it remind people that greatness isn’t reserved for the chosen few, it’s available to anyone willing to take the first step.
