Today we’d like to introduce you to Mi’auna Kinnard.
It’s an honor to speak with you today. Why don’t you give us some details about you and your story. How did you get to where you are today?
It is a pleasure to speak with you today. My name is Mi’auna Kinnard the owner of The Body Vault Beauty and Wellness Spa in Louisville, KY. I was a young mother who was always taught to work and take care of your family. As a single mother of 1 beautifully intelligent daughter I dropped out of college to work full time to provide for her. During this time, I opened an ecommerce women’s boutique. Not long after I realized Corporate America was not for me, I desired more. I went back to college and completed my Bachelor’s Degree in Psychology soon to discover I wasted time and money since I could not use my degree in my current company and entry level work resulted in a pay cut. Ok so after 10 years in this motherhood thing I am now expecting a new little blessing. This put a fire under me to make more money. I was a reliable high performing concierge specialist in the same company for 9 years but felt stuck. After putting in 13 transfer applications with only 1 interview, which was denied, I realized I worked for a company where I was underappreciated and there no opportunity for growth. This led me to full time entrepreneurship.
I’m sure your success has not come easily. What challenges have you had to overcome along the way?
No, success has not come easy but I wake up each day, say my prayers and affirmations and claim each day successful. One of my biggest challenges was closing the doors of my business 5 months after my grand opening due to COVID-19. I had no clue I was going to have to shut down just when business was beginning.
Let’s talk about the work you do. What do you specialize in and why should someone work with you over the competition?
The Body Vault is a day spa that specializes in building client’s confidence through self-care services while boosting their overall mental, emotional and physical health. Through hard work, dedication and my love of helping people build themselves up I have been able to help over 500 people begin their journey to a healthier lifestyle during the pandemic.
What’s your best piece of advice for readers who desire to find success in their life?
The best advice I have for readers who desire to find success in their life would be to define what success is to you and go for it.
Speaking of success, what does the word mean to you?
Everyone has a different definition of success, for me success is the freedom of my time. The most important thing to me is family and being able to spend time with them and make memories. Success is also not having a limit on my finances such as I did in Corporate America. Being an entrepreneur has allowed me to surpass the “salary” mindset and living I was taught as a young girl.
What’s next for you?
Hmmmm… What is next for me is a lot! LOL! No but really I am coming up on my 10 year entrepreneur anniversary and I have several things up my sleeves. I am launching my Shape Wear Line, expanding The Body Vault, jumping into the CBD business, working on my beauty line and who knows what else (smile). Possibilities are endless when you have faith in yourself and have a strong support system behind you.
