Brittney Frazier Of N.O.A.H’s Foundation Inc.

Today we’d like to introduce you to Brittney Nicole Frazier.

It’s an honor to speak with you today. Why don’t you give us some details about you and your story. How did you get to where you are today?

We are so excited for this opportunity. Thank you so much for the opportunity to share our mission. We are a nonprofit organization established in 2019, N.O.A.H.’s Foundation provides much-needed social services, outreach, and support to Los Angeles’s most vulnerable. Our primary program is N.O.A.H.’s Place, secure, transitional housing for low-income and homeless individuals and families. We cater to single parents and their children. Our team at N.O.A.H.’s Place guides those we serve toward stable employment and financial independence through career guidance, mentorship programs, and access to job opportunities. We believe very strongly in the old adage: “Give a man a fish, and you’ll feed him for a day. Teach a man to fish, and you’ll feed him for a lifetime. I’m a survivor of domestic violence and homelessness. During that time, I was adrift, without an anchor, in a tumultuous sea. At that point I knew I had to make a decision to sink or swim. I gathered my strength and courage and transformed my life. The inspiration for the founding of our organization is my beloved son, Noah.

I’m sure your success has not come easily. What challenges have you had to overcome along the way?

I serves as the guiding light to all of our case managers, shelter managers, volunteers, and sponsors. I inspire our team to remain steadfast in our commitment to serve those who need us most and she serves as an inspiration to those we serve as something they can aspire to. Sometimes that can be difficult. In addition to its responsibilities, leadership brings such challenges as motivating people – often without seeming to do so – and keeping them from stagnating when they’re doing well. Leaders also have to motivate themselves, and not just to seem, but actually to be, enthusiastic about what they’re doing. I’m always excited about the work we do, because it’s much needed work.

Let’s talk about the work you do. What do you specialize in and why should someone work with you over the competition?

Our Mission is to empower individuals, parents, and families to rise above poverty and rebuild their lives. Our Vision to see families with their own, safe home; parents obtaining good, sustainable careers; and healthy children with access to quality education and the ability to pursue their dreams, however big they may be. Our Values stem for our love of others and our understanding that love knows no bounds. We provide inclusive social services attuned to homeless needs. We welcome men, women, children, single parents, and LGBTQIA+ individuals. We focus on providing aid and assistance for projects wherever the need is greatest. We help people young and old, in urban or rural settings. We are simply here to have a positive impact for those who needs us. We are here to serve. Our transitional home, N.O.A.H.’s Place welcomes both employed and unemployed individuals and single parents struggling to make ends meet. Our pioneering mentorship program, L.E.A.D. (Lead, Explore, and Develop) teaches youth how to become successful leaders in the community. N.O.A.H.’s Foundation prides itself on its empathy and inclusivity as we serve a wide range of people and families in varying situations. We reach out to communities in need to provide them with basic necessities. We work with private citizens, businesses, other charitable institutions, and sponsors to provide a systematic response to the immediate and long-term needs of vulnerable communities. We provide: • Food giveaways • Hygiene kits • Common household items • Necessities for children.

What’s your best piece of advice for readers who desire to find success in their life?

There are currently at least 63,706 people experiencing homelessness in Los Angeles County, according to a count by LAHSA in 2020 — a 13% increase from 2019. (The 2021 count was cancelled due to COVID-19, but is scheduled to resume in 2022.) In the city of Los Angeles, LAHSA says there are 41,290 people experiencing homelessness. The numbers are an estimate of people experiencing homelessness on any given night in Los Angeles. Advocates believe the numbers are higher. Now is a good time to join the fight against homelessness and hunger. Donate your funds, volunteer your time, share your resources, and get involved ! We’ve been in a pandemic before Covid-19, homelessness has always been a crisis.

Speaking of success, what does the word mean to you?

The reality is that success is defined in many ways, but it must come from within to motivate true success on your terms. By understanding and valuing who you are and why you desire success, it’s easier to tap into your true value by becoming more aware of your strengths, skills and existing knowledge. Defining your own success means knowing why you want it. For example, when you say, “I want success!” what do you really want?

What’s next for you?

We’re growing, and expanding. And we’re going to continue the good fight. Our hope is to operate more transitional homes and continue to empower those who need it the most.

Finally, how can people connect with you if they want to learn more?
